PCOS
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS, is a condition in which a woman’s level of the sex – hormones estrogens and progesterone are out of balance. This leads to growths of ovarian cysts (begin masses on the ovaries)
- Failure to ovulate
- Insulin resistance
- Irregular menstruation or no menstruation – Amenorrhoea
- Difficulty getting pregnant (because of irregular ovulation of failure to ovulate)
- Excessive hair growth (hirsutism)-usually on the face, chest, back or buttocks
- Weight Gain
- Thinning hair and hair loss from the head
- Oily skin or acne
- Overproduction of the hormone androgen may be another contributing factor. Androgen is a male sex hormone that woman bodies also produce. Woman with PCOS often produce higher-than-normal levels of androgens
